What is online about you?

Like a check-up at the doctor’s, but for your online life. Six steps, five minutes, free. You send us nothing.

  1. Search your name in quotes

On Google and Bing, look at the “All” tab, then “Images”. Also try your username, your phone number and your email address.

  2. Search your profile photos

With Google Lens or TinEye, upload your profile photo: you will see if a fake account uses it.

  3. Check your email in data breaches

On Have I Been Pwned, type your address. If it shows up, change the password for that site.

  4. Protect your accounts

Turn on two-step verification. Check your recovery email and phone number. Sign out of devices you do not recognise.

  5. Get an automatic alert

Create a Google Alert for your name in quotes: Google emails you when a new page mentions you.

  6. Worried about an intimate image?

Adults: StopNCII.org helps block it from being posted on many platforms, without the image leaving your phone. Image taken before age 18: Take It Down.
