Report a fake profile from Facebook

Here is the official process on Facebook, checked on 15 October 2026. Follow the steps in order.

Before you start

  • Take a screenshot of the fake profile (with its address and the date) and copy its link.
  • Report it with the platform’s impersonation form. Have an ID ready: some platforms ask for it to confirm it’s really you.
  • Tell your contacts that this profile isn’t you, without sharing its content.
  • If the fake profile is used to scam or harm, report it to the police.

The steps

Report a fake profile from Facebook

  1. Go to the fake profile (or ask a friend to send you its link).
  2. Click "…" (Options) below the cover photo.
  3. Select "Report profile".
  4. Say it is pretending to be you and follow the prompts.

You may need to log in to your account. Checked on 15 October 2026.

No Facebook account: impersonation report form

  1. Open the "Report an Impostor Account" form.
  2. Confirm you are the person being impersonated (or their legal representative).
  3. Enter your name, your email and the link to the fake profile.
  4. Upload a photo of your ID, then send.

You don’t need an account. Checked on 15 October 2026.

If it doesn’t work

An official form can go unanswered or be wrongly refused. That’s not the end: there are other doors, heavier but effective — the company hosting the site, the company managing its domain name, the laws of your country, the data protection authority. That’s exactly what we do for you, with your agreement.

  1. Reporting to the platform
  2. A written request to the site owner
  3. The domain name registrar
  4. The hosting company
  5. Search engines
  6. The authority or the courts
